Frequently Asked Questions
- I'm looking for information on an event that I know is coming up. Why is it not listed in the Community Calendar?
- The information in the Community Calendar is submitted and updated by the organization sponsoring the event. If the organization does not submit the event to the calendar, it will not be included.
- How can I include my organization's events in the community calendar?
- Organizations update their own information in the calendar. To do so, simply obtain a calendar username and password. You can request access from the Registration page.
- Can commercial companies use the community calendar or is it restricted to non-profit, governmental, and educational organizations?
- Yes, companies can use the calendar if they are holding or sponsoring an event that is for the public-at-large (see questions below for further explanation) and has entertainment or educational value.
- Is there any charge for listing events?
- No!
- Our organization is currently using the community calendar, but we forgot our username or password. What should we do?
- Send email to editor@cadizrecord.com to obtain a new one. Please include your email address and phone number.
- We are cancelling an event. Can we post a cancellation notice?
- No! If the event was originally listed in the community calendar, then simply delete the event from the Add Events page.
- Our school is putting on a play. Can we post information?
- If anyone can attend the play, then you can post information. If attendance is limited to students at the school or some other select group, then you may not post information.
- Our company is having a huge sale. Can we post information?
- No. In general, sales are not considered to be events that have educational or entertainment value.
- What about movie listings, band performances, shows, etc.?
- All are acceptable! Please do list them!
- What may religious organizations post?
- There are multiple categories for churches and other religious organizations so that special events and worship services can be listed.
- Does admission have to be free?
- No. You can charge an admission fee. The bigger criteria is that the public-at-large can attend. Please do include information about the cost of admission in the description.
- What about museums, amusement parks, and other regularly scheduled entertainment facilities?
- There is a special category "Attractions & Amusement" that can be used for listing information. For instance, an Art Museum would use this category to list regular operating hours. However, if the Art Museum was having a special promotional event, it may choose to list this under another category as well. The Calendar Editor retains complete editorial control in approving all entries.
- What other restrictions are there?
- Announcements about events are off limits. As an example, you can list a show that is on a particular date, but you cannot put a separate entry two weeks earlier when tickets are on sale. Information about ticket sales, including dates and cost, should be listed with the event data itself, not as a separate event. The final decision about the appropriateness of entry will be made by the Calendar Editor who reviews all submissions.
